Notes

Tiger Woods won his 82nd PGA TOUR title at the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP, tying Sam Snead for the most wins in PGA TOUR history. Woods improved to 44-for-46 (95.6%) in his career with the outright 54-hole lead and 25-for-25 when leading by three shots or more after 54 holes.

Tiger Woods opened the event with bogeys on each of the first three holes. He became the first player in the ShotLink era (since 2003) to bogey each of the first three holes of a tournament and go on to win.

The victory marked Tiger Woods’ 14th of his career when leading/co-leading after each round. He opened with three rounds of 66 or better for the fourth time in his career (won all four).

Tiger Woods played the par-3s in 9-under (field-best), reaching that mark for the first time in his career.

Japan became the seventh country in which Tiger Woods won a PGA TOUR event (United States, England, Scotland, Spain, Canada, Ireland).

In the first PGA TOUR event in his home country, Hideki Matsuyama finished second at 16-under 264. Matsuyama recorded his second career 72-hole score of 264 or better (first: 264/2017 World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational) and played the par-4s in 6-under, tied with Shane Lowry for best in the field.

Sungjae Im finished T3, marking his second top-three finish of the season. Im’s week was highlighted by a second-round 64.

Rory McIlroy (T3) shot a first-round 72, recording a score of 72 or higher in round one and going on to finish in the top three for the first time since the 2013 Valero Texas Open (72/2nd). McIlroy played the par-5s in 9-under, best in the field.

Gary Woodland held a share of the 18-hole lead before finishing fifth, his second consecutive top-five on TOUR. Woodland’s opening 64 was the fourth sub-65 first-round score of his career and first since the 2018 PGA Championship. He fell to 0-for-4 in his career in converting the 18-hole lead/co-lead to victory.
