Notes

Cameron Champ earned his second PGA TOUR title in his 35th career start at age 24 years, 106 days, winning the Safeway Open by one stroke over Canada’s Adam Hadwin at 17-under 271. Champ won in his second start of the season for the second consecutive season, also doing so at the 2018 Sanderson Farms Championship.

At age 24, Cameron Champ became the 21st player to win twice in his first 33 professional starts on TOUR and the first to win twice before turning 25 since Bryson DeChambeau in 2018.

Having held a three-stroke lead entering the final round, Cameron Champ improved to 2-for-2 in his career with the 54-hole lead/co-lead.

Cameron Champ led the field in Driving Distance (337.1 yards), becoming the first player to do that in a tournament he won since Rory McIlroy at the 2019 RBC Canadian Open. He also led the field in Scrambling (84.2%) and Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (2.879 per round).

Cameron Champ’s grandfather, Mack, was in hospice care in Sacramento with Stage IV stomach cancer during tournament week.

In his season debut, Adam Hadwin shot a final-round 67 to finish solo-second and one shot behind winner Cameron Champ. Hadwin birdied the last three holes to tie the lead before Champ birdied the 72nd hole for the victory.

Adam Hadwin’s runner-up result marked his best finish on TOUR since winning the 2017 Valspar Championship. He recorded 22 birdies, tied for most in the field with Xinjun Zhang and fellow Canadian Corey Conners, and led the field in Greens in Regulation Percentage (80.56%).

With a T4, Justin Thomas earned his third consecutive top-five (dating to his win at the 2019 BMW Championship), accomplishing the feat for the second time in his career.

Bryson DeChambeau held second-round lead before finishing T13. DeChambeau fell to 0-for-6 in his career converting the 36-hole lead/co-lead to victory.

Bo Van Pelt finished T62 in his first start since the 2016 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, missing a period of 1,321 days with a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Defending champion Kevin Tway missed the cut with scores of 71-72—143 (-1).
